Nate Hagens's Earth Day Talk 2021

Another good one: Earth and Humanity: Myth and Reality.

Hagens describes the talk as follows. "This synthesis is based on 15+ years of collaboration with a network of scientists and systems thinkers. It highlights dozens of the core myths and stories prevalent in modern culture and contrasts them to our underlying biophysical (biological and physical) realities. There will be a web portal in near future going deeper on these topics for use in education and outreach as well as providing direction on societal interventions. Here is the chronological myth order and time stamp. They can be watched in any order, but this order makes the most sense (so we decided)."

For a similar, more detailed vision of the same future, i recommend reading John Michael Greer's book The Long Descent.

Heinberg's talk was part of a teach-in held by the International Form on Globalization in October 2014 in New York City on the theme of techno-utopianism and the fate of the Earth. All the talks are available on the conference website.

Why no comments? I used to do public comments but found that moderating and maintaining them took too much time in front of the computer, time better spent playing outdoors. So these days I only do private comments, that is, you can email me comments regarding a post by clicking the 'Comment' link at the bottom of the post.
